FPU WC™ Series Top Coats

Our WC™ Series of Fluorinated Polyurethane (FPU™) coatings provides a topcoat that has very low surface energy, is extremely stable (chemically non-reactive), flexible, abrasion resistant, and impermeable to oxygen and water. These coatings give a surface that is easy to clean because: (A) its low surface energy produces a super-slick finish that resists soiling; (B) its chemical stability allows the finish to withstand solvents. An FPU coating has an exceptionally long service life because: (A) its chemical stability allows it to withstand UV, and Heat; (B) its flexibility allows it to resist chipping. FPU's impermeability protects surfaces from corrosion far better than competitive offerings. All this translates into lower maintenance cost because FPU™ coatings reduce: the need for maintenance, the maintenance effort, and the maintenance downtime. Non-reactive FPU™ coatings are nonpolluting and suitable for portable water applications.

These coatings are formulated from a set of original, patented polymers developed by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). NRL's formula eliminated the need for high temperature curing, which is normally required for Fluorinated Polymers. Because they cure at ambient temperature, these extraordinarily tough coatings can for the first time be applied with standard painting equipment.

WC-1 This basic FPU™ exterior coating provides a high-quality finish for protecting ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics composites, masonry, wood, and Fiberglass.

WC-1 (NS) This variant of WC-1 includes a soft, (non-cutting) traction-enhancing additive that provides an excellent non-skid surface for wet or slippery floors, walkways, or stairs.

WC-1 (BA) This variant of WC-1 includes additives that produce a coating with very low release energy, which is highly resistant to soiling. WC-1 (BA) is ideal for building exterior applications that require graffiti protection.

WC-1 (C) This variant of WC-1 includes ceramic additives to produced a surface with exceptional abrasion and thermal resistance. WC-1 (C) is ideal for in high wear applications.

WC-1 (ICE) This variant of WC-1 includes, PTFE, Fluoroalkylsilane, and Dimethyl Siloxane into a thin film coating system applicable to a variety of properly prepared substrates. This modified combination of materials, produces an extremely low surface energy film that is difficult for ice to adhere to. The finished, cured system displays exceptional moisture and abrasion resistance while providing corrosion protection with outstanding appearance.

WC-2 This product includes PTFE;, and is designed for use in exterior industrial environments. It has a lower gloss level than WC- 1. WC-2 provides an excellent Industrial finish for protecting ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, composites, masonry, wood and Fiberglass. This product provides exceptional corrosion protection UV resistance and excellent abrasion, chemical and graffiti resistant characteristics.

WC-2 (H) This variant of WC 2 has higher amounts of PTFE; which give a smooth, low gloss, non-stick surface with enhanced impact and abrasion resistance.

WC-5 This product is designed for full immersion service in a variety of petrochemical tank and pipeline systems. Made to U.S. Military petroleum tank lining specifications, WC-5 has a potential operating life in excess of 30 years.

WC-15 This product is deigned for full immersion service on marine equipment, pipelines, and water tanks. It is suitable for use with potable water, salt water, sewage, and waste water. WC-15 can be applied to appropriately prepared ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, composites, masonry, wood and fiberglass. This product provides exceptional corrosion protection, UV resistance, and has excellent abrasion and chemical resistance. On splash zones, WC-15 produces a surface that is an easy to clean of marine boring organisms, and has a moisture absorption rate of less 0.1% by weight. WC-15 is AS 4020 (Australian) potable water certified.

WC-15 (E) This enhanced variant of WC-15 provides a lower release energy giving it improved water shedding characteristics. WC-15 (E) is ideal for marine hulls, where its super slick surface improves performance and fuel economy.

WC-15 (EM) This variant of WC-15 provides enhanced resistance to UV radiation, and resistance to moisture permeation, combined with the super slick surface characteristics of WC-15 (E). WC-15 (EM) is ideal for Wind Turbine rotor blades. It helps minimize UV induced chalking of the blade's epoxy surface and minimizes deterioration caused by by the blades absorbing water. The super slick surface makes the blades essentially self-cleaning in the rain.

WC-15 (C) This variant of WC-15 contains ceramic and produces a surface with exceptional corrosion protection and excellent solar reflection characteristics. The matt or semi-gloss coating resists chalking and provides a finish with outstanding appearance. WC-15 (C) is ideal for metal structures, buildings and equipment that are subjected to high winds, salinity, moisture, and abrasion.

WC-15 (EB) This variant of WC-15 is formulated for applications that require both exterior and full-immersion service. This coating is EPA compliant, environmentally safe and non-toxic in a dried film.

WC-15 (PW) This variant of WC-15 is formulated for use in full-immersion service in potable water tanks. This coating produces a finish that is EPA compliant, environmentally safe and non-toxic . WC-15 (PW) passed the Australian Water Test AS 4020 (Intl)-1994.

WC21FRC This version forms an extremely low surface energy film which is easy to clean because marine organisms cannot attach themselves securely to its super-slick surface. The cured system displays exceptional moisture and abrasion resistance while providing corrosion protection with outstanding appearance. The product's durable FPU vehicle provides extended service life in Marine applications, because it withstands weathering, retains its color retention and exceptional UV resistance. In addition, FRC is cutting edge in that it is environmentally friendly and expels no toxic chemicals into the water.

NAFDAC Nontoxic, Anti-Fouling, Dual Action Coating

NAFDAC™ is a strong rubbery version of our Fluorinated Polyurethane (FPU™). It provides a nontoxic anti-fouling coating that works in two ways to protect marine assets from fouling by marine organisms. NAFDAC™ is the culmination of over 20 years of research and development by the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory, which has pending patent on the formula. It provides an effective, non-toxic alternative to traditional, toxic anti-fouling paints. Instead of poisoning marine organisms, NAFDAC™ inhibits their ability to attach themselves to the surface.

The primary applications are to:

Primers
